Book Review - Freefall by Kristen Heitzmann

Synopsis - A young woman stumbles out of the Hanalei Mountains with no memory of who she is.  Monica knows she has been brought there by God. Monica's brother reluctantly agrees to investigate the mysterious circumstances surrounding the stranger's arrival.  He suspects her injuries were not accidental but he's not convinced that she is an innocent victim.  Given the name of Jade, the woman begins to remember what led her to the island of Kauai.  The investigator does not believe the danger is over but Jade wants to recover what she has lost.  Together, they attempt to reconstruct the threads of her identity, but the stakes are higher than either expected.
Review - This was an interesting choice of book group read.  My first foray into Christian literature.  Very descriptive, you could visualise the beautiful setting.  I felt the Christian element was about the right level, not too pushy to put non believers off.  I liked the way that the belief and healing were interwoven to be very much part of the culture and therefore the context was believable.  I felt the author tried to write a lot of content into the story with the different elements of Jade/Gentry's life and it got a little bit unbelievable towards the end when you discovered that it wasn't actually Gentry that was wanted dead.  3*
